Ho Chi Minh City to Da Lat by bus or plane

Da Lat, the "city of eternal spring" in Vietnam's Central Highlands, is a popular escape from the heat of Ho Chi Minh City. The road climbs into the hills, so allow most of a day by bus, or fly in under an hour.

Sleeper bus and limousine van

Many companies run buses day and night. Expect around 6–8 hours, depending on traffic leaving Saigon and road works on the mountain section.

• Sleeper buses have two levels of semi-reclined berths; cabin-style "VIP" buses add curtains and more space.
• Limousine vans have 9–11 large seats and are popular for daytime trips.

Some operators pick up in District 1; others leave from their own offices or from Mien Dong bus station. Check the boarding point on your ticket.

Flight

Flights from Tan Son Nhat (SGN) to Lien Khuong Airport (DLI) take about 50 minutes. The airport is roughly 30 km south of Da Lat; a shuttle bus or taxi takes about 40 minutes to the centre. Flying makes sense if your time is short, and fares can be competitive.
